The procedure involves:
- Anesthesia (numbing the area)
- Incision (making a cut in the gum or soft tissue)
- Exposure (accessing the cyst)
- Enucleation (removing the cyst and its lining)
- Closure (stitching the incision site)
Types of cysts that may require excision:
- Dentigerous cysts
- Radicular cysts
- Keratocystic odontogenic tumors (KCOTs)
- Glandular odontogenic cysts
