Endocrinology Clinic
Endocrinology Clinic
Endocrinology is a medical specialty focused on diagnosing, treating, and managing disorders related to the endocrine system, which consists of glands that produce hormones. Hormones are chemical messengers that regulate various bodily functions, including metabolism, growth and development, reproduction, mood, and energy levels.
The endocrine glands include the thyroid, adrenal, pancreas, pituitary, parathyroid, and gonads (ovaries and testes). Endocrinologists diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions, including diabetes mellitus (a disorder of insulin production or function), thyroid disorders (such as hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism), adrenal disorders (such as Addison’s disease or Cushing’s syndrome), pituitary disorders, reproductive hormone imbalances, metabolic bone diseases (such as osteoporosis), and disorders of growth and development.
Endocrinologists use various diagnostic tools, such as blood tests, urine tests, imaging studies (ultrasound, CT scans, and MRI), and specialized stimulation or suppression tests to assess hormone levels and gland function. Treatment options may include medication, hormone replacement therapy, lifestyle modifications, and, in some cases, surgery.
